In Brief: Former Bank of America President's Plans

David Coulter, former president of Bank of America Corp., will start up a West Coast operation in Los Angeles for Beacon Group, a New York venture capital firm, at the end of the year, said Beacon founder and senior partner Geoffrey Boisi.

Mr. Coulter, 52, began full-time work with Beacon as a partner Sept. 1. "He will help us develop our information technology and financial services sectors," Mr. Boisi said.

Mr. Coulter had been chairman of the old California-based BankAmerica Corp. He resigned in October shortly after it merged with NationsBank Corp. Beacon manages $2 billion of assets. -- Dan Weil
