Northern Trust Makes 3 Executive Changes

Northern Trust Corp. on Tuesday named Perry R. Pero vice chairman. The bank said Mr. Pero, 60, will retain his duties as chief financial officer, including overseeing risk management and presiding over the bank's corporate asset liability committee. The appointment was one of three executive changes announced after a meeting of the bank's board Tuesday morning.

Executive vice president James J. Mitchell was named president of worldwide operations and technology. Mr. Mitchell, 56, has headed this business unit since 1994.

The bank also named Harry W. Short, 53, an executive vice president. Mr. Short had been a senior vice president. He will continue his role as controller.
