MasterCard Names N. America Region Chief

MasterCard International has appointed Concord EFS Inc. executive Ruth Ann Marshall to the newly created position of president of the North America region.

Ms. Marshall, who will start Oct. 25, will be responsible for building MasterCard's issuance and acceptance business in North America. She will report to Alan Heuer, MasterCard's senior executive vice president.

At Concord, a Memphis payment processor, Ms. Marshall supervised 700 employees and MAC, a prominent regional debit network owned by Concord. Ms. Marshall was in charge of marketing, customer service, product development, and project management.

She worked for International Business Machines Corp. from 1976 to 1994 before joining Buypass, the point of sale division for Wilmington, Del.-based Electronic Payment Services Inc., which was recently acquired by Concord.
