In Brief: Troubled Credit Union Shuttered by Regulators

The National Credit Union Administration has liquidated Bricks North Carolina Community FCU in Whitakers, N.C. The credit union, founded in 1936, had 492 members and $731,000 of assets.

It was the second time this month that federal regulators have shut a credit union for poor underwriting standards. Bricks' members are eligible to join Freedom FCU, a $26 million-asset institution in nearby Rocky Mount. Members may access their new accounts on Monday.

On Jan. 6, the agency closed Turtle Mountain Federal Credit Union in Belcourt, N.D.
