its own bills electronically through Transpoint LLC, the joint venture of Microsoft Corp., First Data Corp., and the bank's parent, Citigroup Inc.
Citibank was planning to start a "very targeted" rollout of electronic mortgage bills at the beginning of October, said Lewis Goldman, vice president of electronic commerce at Citibank, who spoke at Jupiter Communications' on-line financial services conference last week.
Mr. Goldman said the bills would be available at the two Internet sites currently presenting Transpoint bills: Transpoint's Web page and Microsoft Corp.'s MoneyCentral personal finance site.
Citibank would probably begin a test for mortgage payments and other Transpoint bills at the bank's Direct Access Web site in the first quarter, he said, and would probably move to a live rollout in the second quarter.
The bank's mortgage unit serviced $88.25 billion of mortgages at the end of the second quarter, ranking it 10th among conventional mortgage servicers, according to National Mortgage News.
