Financial Services Roundtable Hires Government Affairs Chief

Roundtable on Monday said it has hired Lisa S. McGreevy to be director of government and public affairs. She is scheduled to start Nov. 1.

Ms. McGreevy, 43, has been senior vice president for policy development at the Conference of State Bank Supervisors for the past four years. Before joining it in 1993, Ms. McGreevy had worked in legislative affairs for the Treasury Department and the White House during the Bush and Reagan administrations. She was an aide to Roundtable president Steve Bartlett in the mid-1980s when he was a Texas congressman on the House Banking Committee. And she helped form the forerunner of a Roundtable rival, the Financial Services Council.

She succeeds Alfred M. Pollard, who resigned in September. The hiring of Ms. McGreevy is the latest in a series of changes at the Roundtable. Formerly the Bankers Roundtable, the group renamed itself in April to signal a broader mission as a trade association for diversified financial conglomerates.

The group hired Mr. Bartlett soon afterward to raise its profile. In September it officially began soliciting insurance and securities companies to become members. -- Dean Anason
