In Briefs: Chase Web Site to Use Microsoft Loan Tools

Microsoft Corp. has licensed its Internet lending technology to Chase Manhattan Corp.'s home lending unit, the companies announced Tuesday.

Chase Manhattan Mortgage Corp., the largest originator and servicer of home loans, is the first lender to use Microsoft's on-line mortgage tools for its own Web site. Microsoft brokers loan applications taken through its HomeAdvisor site. The software giant will customize HomeAdvisor for Chase.

Aside from the ability to take applications electronically, Chase's site will also have such HomeAdvisor features as a mortgage calculator that tells consumers what their monthly payments would be, and tools to determine whether it is better for a consumer to rent or buy a home.
