In Briefs: Roslyn of N.Y. Names Mortgage Chief Exec

Thomas M. Sullivan has been named president and chief executive officer of Roslyn National Mortgage Corp., a subsidiary of Roslyn Savings Bank.

Mr. Sullivan, 35, has been acting CEO since June, when former CEO Joseph P. Bryant left the company. Roslyn promoted Richard S. Loeffler to chief operating officer of the mortgage unit, the position formerly held by Mr. Sullivan. Mr. Loeffler, 41, previously ran secondary marketing.

A Roslyn spokeswoman said Mr. Bryant left because of "philosophical differences" with the company. While Roslyn wanted to expand its mortgage business at "a controlled rate," she said, Mr. Bryant wanted it to grow more quickly. Mr. Bryant could not be reached for comment.
