In Brief: Calif. On-Line Lender To Peddle a Visa Card

E-Loan Inc. plans to offer Providian Financial Corp.'s Internet credit card, Aria, on its Web site.

People using E-Loan's site can apply for an Aria Visa card, with approval in 20 seconds or less.

In addition E-Loan announced that Atviso is taking a 37% investment stake, worth about $26 million, in E-Loan Europe. Formed in July, Atviso is a joint venture between Vivendi, a communications company, and Softbank Corp. of Japan.

E-Loan also announced the appointment of Mirko Siepmann, a senior Deutsche Bank executive, to be the chief executive of E-Loan Europe.

Finally, the California on-line lender and LoanWise.com have entered into an exclusive joint marketing agreement that acts as a product extension for both companies. Through a mutual referral arrangement, E-Loan would offer small-business loans and lines of credit, and LoanWise.com would offer mortgages.
