Card Briefs: Hypercom Moves CFO Into Strategic Planning

Thomas E. Linnen, Hypercom Corp.'s chief financial officer since October 1996, has moved into the post of senior vice president, strategic planning and corporate development.

He will focus on identifying acquisition targets and strategic alliances for the fast-growing provider of point of sale terminal systems and communications network products.

Jon Killmer, a former Coopers & Lybrand partner, was recruited to be the new CFO. Since 1996 he was senior vice president, chief financial officer, treasurer, and chief administrative officer of Digi International Inc.

Both report to chief executive officer Al Irato, who credited Mr. Linnen with "guiding the company through its successful initial public offering. While organic growth of the core point of sale solutions business of 30% annually in recent years is remarkable, we believe the expanding role of electronic payments in both the retail and Internet realms justifies a more aggressive strategy that includes potential acquisitions."
