Commerce Bank in St. Louis has hired former Bank of America executive

V. Raymond Stranghoener to be president of its investment management group.

Mr. Stranghoener has responsibility for the bank's trust and money management operation and client relationships in the Midwest. He also is to be named senior vice president of the bank's parent, Commerce Bancshares Inc., at its board meeting this month.

Mr. Stranghoener, 48, was national executive of the wealth strategies group in St. Louis of Bank of America's private bank. Earlier he had been its St. Louis market executive. Still earlier he was executive vice president, general counsel, and secretary at Boatmen's Trust Co. Before that he was a partner in the Bryan Cave law firm in St. Louis for 17 years.

Commerce Bank also promoted Roselyn Manis to vice president, treasury services, giving her responsibility for product development.

Ms. Manis joined Commerce in 1992 and has worked in various cash management and product management posts. Earlier she worked at Boatmen's Bank in St. Louis.
