A commentary Thursday on page 18, "ATM Networks Have Chance To Take Lead In E-Commerce," included two editing errors. In a sentence that originally read: "It includes substantial switching and processing capabilities and a complex set of operating rules and procedures that standardize the real-time movement of money," the word "it" was mistakenly interpreted; the pronoun stood for ATM networks, not the Internet. And the acronym ISO was spelled out mistakenly; it stands for International Organization for Standardization.

In a Reporter's notebook item on page 14 Friday, "Slow Sign-Ups Fail to Temper Web Frenzy," the Gomez Advisors estimate of on-line banking customers -- 4.3 million -- applied only to those using banks' Web interfaces within the 30 days preceding questioning. It did not include other types of connections, said Christopher Musto, director of financial services at Gomez.

A brief item on page 31 Monday misidentified the agency with which Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance Co. has filed an application for a thrift charter. It is the Office of Thrift Supervision.
