Globeset Announces Wallet-Software Rollout

Globeset Inc. on Tuesday introduced its latest wrinkle in electronic wallet technology.

The company, which sells through original equipment manufacturer -- or OEM -- allies, said its BankTone Wallet addresses industry and consumer concerns about security, ease of use, and merchant acceptance.

The software, which facilitates on-line ordering and payment choices, resides on a financial institution's server computer. Globeset contends that a virtual wallet complements these companies' customer information management activities and brand strategies, and that they will be more trusted by the public than other Internet entities.

Globeset also said its system requires no investment by merchants -- 1,000 right off the bat -- through a process called Agent Mediated Commerce.

"The wallet's ease of use, increased security, and one-click purchase power are compelling features that are sure to interest our customers," said Martin Howley, vice president of the merchant solutions group at ACI Worldwide, one of Globeset's OEM distribution partners.
