In Brief: Bank of N.Y. Hires Private Banking Chief

veteran Lee C. Wortham to its top private banking post.

Mr. Wortham, 42, has been named executive vice president in the high-net-worth retail division. In the newly created position, he oversees private banking for domestic and international clients, personal financial planning, and the private bank's sales organization. He joined the bank Wednesday.

Mr. Wortham spent 14 years at Chase, where he was a managing director in the private banking unit, in charge of its global entrepreneur segment. He reports to Newton P.S. Merrill, senior executive vice president of Bank of New York's client services and its asset management group.
