Ernst & Young Hires French For Actuarial Services Post

Ernst & Young LLP in New York has hired Douglas A. French as national director of actuarial services.

He will be responsible for the management and development of actuarial offerings, and will lead a group of more than 250 professionals in New York and other major markets throughout North America.

Mr. French was North American director of the financial services risk management practice at the Tillinghast-Towers Perrin consulting firm. In 15 years there he had also been the director of its global risk management practice and a member of the management committee of its financial services practice.

Ernst & Young said Mr. French has provided actuarial services to major banks and insurance companies throughout North America, the United Kingdom, and Australia, He has also advised these clients on mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning, and compliance, as well as on financial reporting, projections and modeling, the firm said.

Mr. French will report to Perter Porrino, partner and national director of Ernst & Young's insurance industry practice.
