Brazil, Korea Firms Join Certificate Vendor Push

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. - Verisign Inc. announced that companies in Brazil and Korea have joined its international affiliate program.Certisign in Brazil and CrossCert in South Korea are the 17th and 18th to participate in the digital certificate vendor's global distribution network. Each local electronic commerce entity cobrands its Internet trust services with Verisign's in serving on-line banking, brokerage, health-care, and telecommunications markets, among others.

Among other affiliate program members are British Telecom in the United Kingdom, Certplus in France, KPN Telecom in the Netherlands, AT&T in the United States, and VPN Tech and Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce in Canada.


Web Notary System's Distribution Detailed

QUAKERTOWN, Pa. - CitX Corp. unveiled distribution plans for what it calls the first digital certificate system on the Internet for notaries to ensure trusted e-commerce transactions and authorized access to sensitive information such as medical records.The service, NotarX, is to be available through a "vertical portal and e-community" site this year, CitX said.

Subscribing notaries would be registration authority operators, delivering certificates for the electronic signing of documents or transmissions between on-line parties. The underlying technology was developed with the public key infrastructure company Baltimore Technologies.
