Chief of a National Data Unit Joins Metris Board

ST. LOUIS PARK, Minn. - Walter M. Hoff, chief executive officer of NDC Health Information Services, has been elected to the board of Metris Cos.Before taking his current post at the Atlanta-based National Data Corp. unit, Mr. Hoff was executive vice president of First Data Corp., overseeing its card services group. He was also chief financial officer of American Express Information Services Corp., a predecessor of First Data.

"Walter's strong background in the financial industry and information management services will be an invaluable asset to the board," said Ronald N. Zebeck, Metris' president and chief executive officer. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience about electronic commerce in particular, a key growth area for Metris."


Citi Exec Named Chief Of Private-Label Issuer

MAHWAH, N.J. - After a 20-year career at Citigroup Inc., Luke M. Byrne has joined Shoppers Charge Accounts Co. as vice president and sales executive.Shoppers Charge, which issues private-label credit cards for retail companies, is a division of Hudson United Bank, a subsidiary of Hudson United Bancorp.

Mr. Byrne had been vice president of business development at Citicorp Retail Services in Melville, N.Y., since 1988. Among his other Citi assignments were vice president and chief financial officer of Citicorp Card Acceptance Services, president of Diners Club of Canada, and chief financial officer for European consumer banking.


Software Maker Hires Visa, MasterCard VPs

ATLANTA - The credit card software company Paysys International Inc. has hired executives away from both MasterCard and Visa.Debra Wohlrab-Skinner, vice president and senior operations and technology officer for MasterCard International's Latin American region, has become Paysys' vice president of operations for the Americas.

She had spent 13 years with MasterCard and previously worked at Deluxe Data Systems and Applied Communications Inc. In addition to Paysys operational responsibilities in its most developed markets, Ms. Wohlrab-Skinner will oversee global product management.

Matthew Leehun Lee, who was Visa International vice president and country manager for China, became Paysys' regional director of Asian business development. He was with Visa 17 years, with previous experience at Wells Fargo Bank and Citicorp.


Star, Fla. ATM Network, Unveils Restructuring

MAITLAND, Fla. - Star Systems Inc. has restructured corporate management after its merger earlier this year with Honor Technologies Inc. to create the largest of the regional automated teller machine networks.Overseeing the major divisions of information systems, operations, and marketing are Thomas J. McHugh, chief technology officer; Robert A. Hunger, chief operations officer; and K. Nikki Waters, chief marketing officer.

Miles Kilburn, chief financial officer, oversees the financial, legal, and administrative departments, which support all three divisions. All those officers report to Ronald V. Congemi, president and chief executive officer.

Paul F. Schmelzer took a new position in government and industry relations and also reports to Mr. Congemi.

In August the network processed a record 89.4 million ATM card transactions at the point of sale; premerger totals for each network were 31 million to 32 million a month.
