Tech Bytes: U.K.'s Abbey Licenses Marketing Software

Abbey National PLC of London has licensed the Enact customer relationship marketing software from Action Systems Inc., the Dallas-based consulting company announced.

Abbey National, which operates more than 800 branches throughout the United Kingdom, said it will roll out the system in the spring. The bank seeks to match its products accurately with individual customer needs, fitting life stages and lifestyles as appropriate.

Enact "is being used with great success by many banks in the United States and around the world," said Andrew Pople, managing director, retail division at Abbey National, which would be the biggest user outside North America.

"We aim to treat all our 15 million customers as individuals, so it is vital that we communicate the right products to the right people at the right time," he said.

Abbey National worked with Action Systems to produce a networked version of Enact, which Action Systems chief executive officer Robert Hall said will "truly unite their central analytics with local tactics."
