Short Takes: Mercantile of Mo. Giving Funds Its Name

Mercantile Bancorp. of St. Louis announced plans Wednesday to put its name on its mutual fund family.

The fund family, created in 1982, will be known as the Mercantile Mutual Funds beginning March 31, the banking company said. The name change, from Arch Mutual Funds, is intended to leverage the bank's brand.

Mercantile's fund family comprises 18 funds, with a total of $4.3 billion of assets under management.

Mercantile is following the lead of two other banking companies- Huntington Bancshares, Columbus, Ohio, and Fifth Third Bancorp, Cincinnati- that recently stamped their own names on their funds.
