Republic Security Of Florida Hires Barnett Veteran To Run Branches

Republic Security Bank of West Palm Beach, Fla., has hired R. Michael Strickland, who led NationsBank's Palm Beach County market, as chief banking officer, a newly created title.

He will run the $3 billion-asset bank's branch activities.

Mr. Strickland had been chairman, president, and chief executive of Barnett Bank of Palm Beach County. When Barnett Banks Inc. was sold to NationsBank Corp., he stayed on as NationsBank Florida's market president for the county. NationsBank has since merged with BankAmerica Corp. and taken its name.

Republic Security also said Louis J. Dunham will join it March 1 as chief credit officer. The title will be new at the Florida bank; Mr. Dunham now holds it at Vermont National Bank in Brattleboro, which recently announced a merger deal with Chittenden Corp. of Burlington, Vt.

Mr. Dunham has been a banker in Vermont and New York for 24 years. Before joining Vermont National, he was a loan officer in Bankers Trust's major accounts division in Albany, N.Y. He was also a commercial loan officer at the former Manufacturers Hanover Trust.

Mr. Strickland and Mr. Dunham were also named senior executive vice presidents of Republic Security, as was chief financial officer Richard J. Haskins. The three will make up the executive management team and report to Rudy E. Schupp, chairman, president, and chief executive officer of the bank and its parent company, Republic Security Financial Corp.
