In Brief: California Bank to Move Headquarters

California Bank and Trust plans to move its main office from San Francisco to nearby Oakland on June 1.

The $6 billion-asset bank, a unit of Zions Bancorp of Salt Lake City, said its new home offers cheaper rent and an easy commute to Oakland International Airport, which is not subject to as many weather-related delays as San Francisco's.

The move, announced Wednesday in Oakland, is expected to generate 330 jobs in the city, the bank said.

California Bank and Trust, formed Oct. 1 when Zions acquired Sumitomo Bank of California, is the fifth-largest bank in the state, with 71 branches.
