Short Takes: NASD Unit Names Director of N.Y. Office

The regulatory unit of the National Association of Securities Dealers has appointed David A. Leibowitz a senior vice president and district director of its New York office.

As head of the agency's largest district office, he will oversee nearly 1,200 member firms. Mr. Leibowitz, who starts Tuesday, will also oversee examination and member application programs.

Previously, he was vice president and director of surveillance at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette Inc. of New York, where he oversaw customer, proprietary, and employee trading activities.
