Short Takes: IBJ Schroder Buys Out Stakeholder, Alters Name

IBJ Schroder Bank and Trust Co. has changed its name after buying out the 2.7% stake held by Schroder PLC of London.

The company said Tuesday that its new name, IBJ Whitehall Bank and Trust Co., is part of a push to create a brand identity in the United States.

The company, which has assets of $2.5 billion, serves middle-market companies, institutions, and high-net-worth individuals. With the purchase of the Schroder stake, it became a wholly owned unit of Industrial Bank of Japan Ltd.
