Tech Bytes: Denver Firm Offers Single-Sign-On Security

New Era of Networks Inc. has introduced NeonSecure, a single-sign-on security product for corporate enterprises.

Single-sign-on, an increasingly sought-after convenience for computer and network access, eases password maintenance, authorization, and security, simplifying information technology departments' administration requirements in the process.

"NeonSecure adds important new functionality to Neon's Enterprise Application Integration product suite," said Rick Adam, chief executive officer of the Colorado-based technology company. "While people have traditionally thought of single sign-on as a security issue, it's really an integration issue."

NeonSecure is based on the NET III product of Century Analysis Inc., which Neon acquired in September 1998. NeonSecure protects network traffic in part through a combination of Kerberos authentication and the Data Encryption Standard.

"Single-sign-on technology eliminates the need to remember a sign-on ID for each application, maintaining application security and an enterprisewide common look and feel," said Dan Vogel, vice president of health-care information technology strategies for Meta Group.
