Tech Bytes: Calif. Tech Firm Closes Fourth European Deal

Expanding its international services business, Computer Sciences Corp. said it has acquired Informatica Group of Turin, Italy.

The Italian technology and systems integration consultancy became part of CSC's European Group based in Farnborough, United Kingdom. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Informatica had 1998 revenue of about $30 million; it serves several industries, with financial services and telecommunications seen as the fastest-growing. Clients include Fiat, Esso, Telecom Italia, San Paolo-IMI Bank, Reale Mutua Insurance, and the Italian Ministry of Defense.

Informatica's "success at building long-term relationships with clients and their development of new and highly specialized services are an obvious match for our approach to delivering tailored solutions," said Van B. Honeycutt, CSC's chairman, president, and chief executive officer.

CSC made three European acquisitions late last year: KPMG Peat Marwick SA of Paris; Pergamon Gesellschaft fur angewandte Informatik of Wurzburg, Germany; and SYS-AID of the Netherlands.
