In Brief: Investments in On-Line Bills to Hit $83B by 2005

Major corporations will spend $83 billion to send monthly bills to customers over the Internet by 2005, according to a new study.

That means heady opportunities for technology companies providing systems and services for on-line billing, said Killen & Associates, an electronic commerce research firm.

Investments in support of Internet billing will include application software, network services, outsourcing and processing, and systems integration, the firm said.

"Companies that issue bills electronically to their customers and enable those customers to point and click to make a payment will obtain a significant competitive advantage," Killen & Associates said.
