Card Briefs: Ex-Advanta CEO Joins Software Firm's Board

Alex W. Hart has joined the board of Destiny Software Corp., a company that helps card issuers serve customers over the Internet.

Mr. Hart was chief executive officer of Advanta Corp. from 1994 to 1997, after serving as president and chief executive officer of MasterCard International for six years. He also spent 10 years at First Interstate Bancorp (now part of Wells Fargo & Co.) and was founding chairman of Cirrus System Inc., the automated teller machine network owned by MasterCard.

Since leaving Advanta, Mr. Hart has been doing consulting work and serving on the boards of such companies as HNC Software, Sanchez Computer Associates, Who?Vision Systems, and GetSmart.com.

"At this stage of my career, I'm focused on how emerging technologies impact the development and delivery of financial services," Mr. Hart said.

Destiny's clients include BankAmerica Corp., Northern Trust Co., GE Capital Services, and the First USA division of Bank One Corp.
