Tech Bytes: Canada's Westminster Using Prologic System

Westminster Savings Credit Union, one of Canada's 10 largest ns, has rolled out Prologic Corp.'s core banking software.

The Ovation software, which replaces a service bureau contract, will help the credit union support its growing business, said Barry Forbes, the president and chief executive officer of Westminster.

After Westminster merged with Maple Ridge Community Credit Union in December 1997, Mr. Forbes said, the combined company needed a flexible and scalable client/server system.

Westminster has nine branches, 57,000 members, and $585 million of assets.

The installation of the Microsoft Windows NT-based software was completed in six months less than the standard, says Robert Wilband, the president and chief executive officer of Prologic.

The credit union will use Ovation to categorize its customer data base and measure customer profitability, a Prologic spokesman said.

About 100 other credit unions in Canada, the United States, and Australia use Ovation.
