In Brief: Program Will Help Banks Sell Net Access

A unit of FISI-Madison Financial has launched a program to help financial institutions resell local Internet access to their customers.

"The nation's largest Internet service providers are not providing adequate service to consumers," said Greg Constantine, vice president of FISI-Madison's electronic strategic planning division.

FISI-Madison, a Cendant Corp. subsidiary, will offer the service through a newly created unit, ESP Direct.

By providing Internet access, financial institutions can earn income and build relationships, Mr. Constantine said.

"Financial institutions are poised to take advantage of this situation."
