Tech Bytes: Citi Tech Exec Joins Dell Computer Board

Dell Computer Corp. said Citigroup technology executive Mary Alice Taylor has joined its board of directors. Ms. Taylor, 49, is corporate executive vice president for global operations and technology at Citibank, which she joined in January 1997 after 16 years with Federal Express Corp. She has also held management posts at Shell Oil Co., Cook Industries, and Northern Telecom.

"Our customers and shareholders will benefit from Mary Alice's global perspective and from her deep knowledge of finance, logistics, quality, and technology," said Michael S. Dell, chairman and chief executive officer of the computer maker. "She is well familiar with fast-paced, rapidly changing industries, experience that will serve her and Dell well."

Ms. Taylor, the 10th member of the Dell board, is also a director of Autodesk Inc. and Perrigo Inc.
