BankBoston Unit Hires High-Yield VP

BancBoston Robertson Stephens, the securities unit of BankBoston Corp., has hired Stanford H. Nishikawa as a vice president of high-yield research.

He will cover the technology and chemical sectors.

Mr. Nishikawa joins Robertson Stephens from the rival San Francisco firm NationsBanc Montgomery Securities LLC, a BankAmerica Corp. unit, where he was also a vice president in high-yield research.

Robertson Stephens began its high-yield business in November 1997, when the independent securities firm was bought by the old BankAmerica. Last year BankAmerica divested the unit during its merger with NationsBank Corp.

Since starting the high-yield business, Robertson Stephens has completed 61 deals-including 14 it led-and raised $10.2 billion.
