Cards Briefs: Loading Smart Cards Via a Net Connection

Network Decisions Inc. said it has introduced a system that enables financial institutions and merchants to load loyalty points or other program files on a smart card by way of an Internet connection.

The company's iLoader system makes it unnecessary for cardholders to go to special terminals to update their smart cards.

"The combination of smart cards and Internet technologies is unstoppable," said Emer B. Natalio, president of the Florida systems company, which has delivered 40 chip card installations in 10 countries.

Network Decisions said its technology also allows cardholders from remote locations to change personal information and personal identification numbers programmed on the chips.
