Jones to Lead Small-Business Unit at Michigan National Bank

The Michigan National Bank department that lends to midsize and larger small businesses will have a new leader Oct. 1.

The parent Michigan National Corp., a subsidiary of National Australia Bank Group, said Lawrence Jones will get the job, succeeding Richard Webb.

Mr. Jones, 48, now runs the Michigan part of the business.

He will also succeed Mr. Webb, 59, on the executive management team of the Farmington Hills holding company.

Mr. Jones joined Michigan National in 1992 from First Independence Bank in Detroit, where he was president and chief executive officer. Earlier he worked for Meritor Savings Bank in Philadelphia, Princeton Bank in New Jersey, and Mellon Bank in Philadelphia.

Mr. Webb will retire but work part-time for Michigan National, which he joined in 1969. His jobs have included president of the Detroit retail banking division and later of the electronic services and products division.

Michigan National has $10.7 billion of assets.
