In Brief: Intuit, Online Eye Small-Business System

Online Resources and Communications Corp. is working with Intuit Inc. to enable financial institutions to offer small-business banking services.

The combination of Online Resources' banking system and Intuit's Quicken and QuickBooks software would let small businesses integrate their accounting with banking and bill paying.

The services, which comply with the Open Financial Exchange standard for information sharing, target the small-office/home-office market, typically businesses of up to 20 employees and $500,000 of revenue.

"Our goal is to jointly provide high-quality banking" and bill payment services "to financial institutions that want to expand their small- business offerings," said Enrico Roderick, vice president and general manager of Intuit's desktop personal finance group.
