Gemplus Exec on Board of Directors At Canadian Encryption Company

Michael Crosno, Gemplus' executive vice president for North America, has joined the board of Canada-based public key encryption vendor Diversinet Corp.

Diversinet, which recently obtained a U.S. patent on part of its approach to digital certificates, "has some advanced technology that provides the utmost in security solutions, and I am eager to play whatever role I can to help Diversinet reach its goals," Mr. Crosno said.

During more than 20 years in the information technology market, Mr. Crosno has developed strategic alliances with companies such as IBM, Hewlett-Packard, Compaq, Oracle, Sun Microsystems, EDS, and Andersen Consulting. Before joining Gemplus he was general manager and vice president for Eastman Kodak in business imaging systems.

Another recent addition to Diversinet's board is Tele-Communications Inc. executive vice president for engineering Tony Werner.

Multimedia and set-top-box security is one of the company's target markets.

The company expects to have its Passport Permit technology tested in a digital certificate trial sponsored by the National Automated Clearing House Association.
