Tech Bytes: Croatian Bank to Use Digipass 300 System

Vasco Data Security International Inc. said it received an order for 100,000 of its Digipass authentication tokens from the largest bank in Croatia.

Zagrebacka Banka DD intends to use the Digipass 300 product in its remote banking services. The device generates a unique code number for each transaction, adding a level of security to the customer's personal identification number.

"After a thorough market survey, we chose the Digipass 300 for our Zabafon phone banking service because of its proven track record in the banking industry," said Sanja Rendulic, a member of the Zagrebacka Banka board. "It is a modern-looking, customer-friendly, authentication device- including single-hand operation-that we could easily integrate into our existing security infrastructure." The bank plans to introduce Digipass 300 this spring in all of its 150 branches.

Vasco said it has provided the 300 and higher-level Digipass models to more than 130 financial institutions worldwide. The 300 has met with success in Eastern European home banking programs, and 11 banks have used the hardware to open their cash management services to the Internet.
