Tech Bytes: German Software Firm Links Phone, Internet

Brokat Infosystems has introduced X-Agent, software that allows for integrated telephone and Web-enabled customer service and direct marketing.

Based on Brokat's Twister e-services platform, it links a call center to the Internet for interactions between a customer service representative and the customer. X-Agent can also be used for proactive customer relationship management and marketing.

The software company also released the latest version of its Twister platform, which lets businesses connect their back-end systems with electronic channels, including the Internet, call centers, mobile phone networks, smart cards, and Web-enabled television.

Twister 2.3 has been designed to support applications used for secure electronic data transmission through various delivery channels as well as for applications that provide for customer self-service and customer management.

"From the customer's point of view, these new services represent a fundamental improvement in the way they receive support," said Stefan Rover, chief executive officer of Brokat.
