Tech Bytes: Computerm Offers Remote Mirroring Unit

Computerm Corp., a data communications firm that does 60% of its business with banks, has introduced a remote mirroring box for mission-critical applications.

Remote mirroring is a technique for copying disk data over distances for business operations and recovery. But the effectiveness of the process can be limited by distance, which slows productivity and response times.

Computerm's Virtual Mainframe Channel 8800 RemoteCopy increases the distance of remote mirroring applications to more than 40 miles and improves performance.

Each unit costs $50,000 and will be available in May.
