The Federal Housing Finance Names Executive

The Federal Housing Finance Board has reelected Mary Lee Widener as chairman and Robert N. Barone as vice chairman of the Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco.

Ms. Widener is the president of Neighborhood Housing Services of America Inc. in Oakland, Calif.

Mr. Barone is chairman and CEO of Comstock Bancorp and its Comstock Bank in Reno, which First Security Corp. of Salt Lake City is scheduled to buy this summer. He would then become executive vice president of First Security Bank of Nevada.

The Finance Board also elected a new member to fill a vacant seat and reelected three bankers.

Craig G. Blunden is the new member; he was elected to complete a two- year term that ends in December. Mr. Blunden is chairman, president, and CEO of Provident Financial Holdings Inc., in Riverside, Calif., and its Provident Savings Bank. (At the San Francisco Home Loan Bank he succeeded Ray Martin, who resigned in October. Mr. Martin is the former chairman and CEO of Coastal Savings Financial Inc., a Los Angeles company which has now been absorbed into Washington Mutual Inc.)

Dirk S. Adams is executive vice president of Golden West Financial Corp. in Oakland, Calif., and its World Savings and Loan Association. Before joining the thrift he was senior vice president and general counsel for the San Francisco Federal Home Loan Bank.

J. Lance Erikson is a Washington Mutual vice president; he works in its Stockton, Calif., branch. Mr. Erikson was executive vice president, secretary, and general counsel at Great Western Financial Corp. before Washington Mutual bought it in 1997.

David T.C. Wright is president and CEO of Arizona Bank in Tucson.
