BankAtlantic Names Executive

BankAtlantic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., has promoted senior vice president Denise Gaudy, its manager of international trade finance, to be manager of international operations as well.

Ms. Gaudy joined BankAtlantic last year in the wake of NationsBank Corp.'s purchase of Barnett Banks Inc. in Jacksonville, Fla. She had been a group senior vice president at Barnett Bank and its manager of international sales. At NationsBank, now Bank of America Corp., she was briefly a senior vice president and the Jacksonville-area manager of international trade finance.

Before joining Barnett, Ms. Gaudy worked in corporate banking at Mellon Bank.

BankAtlantic also promoted Marcia Barry-Smith and Holly Schnier to senior vice presidencies.

Ms. Barry-Smith is in charge of Community Reinvestment Act lending at the $3.8 billion bank, which she came to from Citizens Federal Bank in Fort Lauderdale.

Ms. Schnier manages the construction loan administration department. She joined BankAtlantic in 1994 from Kislak National Bank in Miami Lakes, Fla.
