SunTrust's Investment Unit Plans to Add Boston Office

SunTrust Equitable Securities Corp. said Wednesday that it would open an office in Boston.

The investment banking subsidiary of SunTrust Banks Inc. also named four new managing directors.

The decision to add a Boston office is part of SunTrust's geographic expansion of its capital markets and investment banking offerings. A powerhouse in the Southeast, the company has nine investment banking offices in the region, from Miami to Washington.

SunTrust said William R. Becklean was named managing director of equity research for the Boston office and will lead its technology and telecommunications research team. Mr. Becklean was previously managing director of equity research with Tucker Anthony Inc. in Boston.

Other appointments:

David A. Jones was named managing director for investment banking in Nashville. Mr. Jones was previously a partner based in J.C. Bradford & Co.'s Nashville office.

William A. Langevin, most recently a managing director with Morgan Keegan & Co., has been appointed managing director of the equity sales and trading team in Nashville.

James D. Parker has been named managing director of equity research, specializing in the regional airline industry. Mr. Parker was previously a managing director with Robinson-Humphrey Co., a subsidiary of Citigroup Inc.
