California Bank and Trust Names Executive

California Bank and Trust of San Diego has hired Gordon Nelson to be vice president and relationship manager in the Los Angeles business banking department.

It also named two former Sumitomo Bank executives, James Christensen and Alan E. Wright, vice president and assistant vice president, respectively.

The bank is a unit of Salt Lake City-based Zions Bancorp. It was formed from two that Zions bought in October, Sumitomo Bank of California and Grossmont Bank.

Mr. Nelson, who has 20 years of experience in financial services, was a vice president at Manufacturers Bank in Los Angeles. There he was in charge of business development and portfolio maintenance for the unit of Sakura Bank Ltd. of Tokyo. He has also worked for Sanwa Bank California and Lloyds Bank.

Mr. Christensen was named vice president and East Long Beach branch manager. He has 20 years of experience in banking. He most recently was a vice president and manager of the Los Angeles South business banking department for 25 Sumitomo branches. He also had managed three traditional retail branches.

Mr. Wright was named assistant vice president and senior credit analyst. He had been a Sumitomo assistant vice president and community development officer, responsible for Community Reinvestment Act loan programs.
