In Brief: AOL Adds Features To Net Banking Site

In moves intended to bolster its Internet banking offering, America Online Inc. said recently it would add a link to a fifth major bank, a new loan service, and more banking research.

Bank One Corp. signed an agreement to have its on-line banking services added to AOL's Banking Center, part of the Internet portal's personal finance channel.

Chicago-based Bank One is to join Bank of America Corp., Citibank, Union Bank of California, and Wells Fargo & Co. in having links to AOL, the Internet company said Monday. These four recently extended existing agreements with AOL.

AOL's new Loan Center plans to let users apply for home equity loans from the Associates, a Dallas consumer finance company.

It also features loan calculators from FinanceCenter Inc., loan rate information from bankrate.com, and planning tools and mortgage information from Intuit Inc.'s Quicken Mortgage.

America Online is also adding bank research from Gomez Advisors Inc., an on-line finance research firm based in Concord, Mass.
