Smart Bits: Canadian Tech Firm Gets $1.2M of Capital

Audesi Technologies Inc. has received the U.S. equivalent of $1.2 million in venture capital from the Business Development Bank of Canada's venture capital group and Ventures West Management.

Audesi, founded two years ago, develops embedded software technology to enable smart card acceptance in consumer appliances and telephones.

Brian McKinney, president and founder of Audesi, said, "The strength of the syndicate extends beyond that of the financial contribution alone. For early-stage companies such as ours, the experience and counsel provided by such partners is critical to our ongoing success."
