In Brief: Australian Bill Handler Picks Internet Software

One of Australia's largest bill-handling companies is using software from Work Technologies Inc. to help clients send bills over the Internet.

E-Bill Ltd., the wholly owned electronic billing subsidiary of Hermes Precisa Ltd., has licensed the WorkOut electronic billing and payment software from Work, which is based in New York.

" Work is among the first few vendors that has a strong emphasis on scalability," said Jeetu Patel, chief technical officer at Doculabs, a consulting firm in Chicago. "E-Bill was wise to carefully consider their volume requirements when selecting an electronic bill presentment and payment solution, since that is a major potential pitfall for large-scale applications."

E-Bill plans to use the software for bill presentment with large telecommunications companies, utilities, and financial service organizations in the Southern Hemisphere.
