In Brief: E-Trade Closes Deal For 'New Media' Firm

E-Trade Group announced the completion of its purchase of ClearStation Inc., describing it as key to the on-line broker's "financial digital media" strategy.

Less than a year in business, ClearStation has registered 90,000 people for its virtual financial community, offering investment analyses and other help in making investment decisions.

The deal "illustrates E-Trade's commitment to developing new, interactive financial media properties," said E-Trade chairman and chief executive officer Christos M. Cotsakos. "ClearStation not only enhances E- Trade's financial new media offerings but also provides a forum for a free exchange of information to investors."
