Short Takes: Securities Group Adds Panels on Bank Units

The Securities Industry Association has formed two committees to focus on the regulation of banking companies' securities divisions.

The Bank Securities Regulatory Committee consists of 20 in-house attorneys for capital markets groups of banking companies. The chairman is Robert C. Dinerstein, managing director of Warburg Dillon Read.

Deborah H. Kaye, assistant general counsel of Chase Manhattan Bank, is chairwoman of the Bank Retail Broker/Dealer Regulatory Committee, which also has 20 members.

Alan E. Sorcher, assistant general counsel of the Securities Industry Association, is the coordinator for both committees.

"This is part of outreach to this community and to address the fact that more and more of our member firms are section 20 subsidiaries or the firms are being purchased by banks," a trade group spokeswoman said.

The committees are to hold their first meetings at the end of the month.
