The CommerceNet consortium said its Government Catalogue Interoperability Pilot, a major demonstration of electronic commerce and transaction security across multiple U.S. agencies, has entered a second phase, running through September.
The project was designed to create a consistent purchasing system without individual vendors' having to use special software or otherwise make unique data presentations for each agency.
According to a PricewaterhouseCoopers evaluation, Phase One demonstrated the technical feasibility of catalogue interoperability and user authentication.
Among the government agencies are the Department of Defense, the General Services Administration, and NASA.
