In Brief: No. 4 Italian Bank Rejects $14B Takeover

Banca Commerciale Italiana SpA, Italy's No. 4 bank, rebuffed UniCredito Italiano's $13.6 billion takeover offer Friday.

The rejection by BCI's board virtually assures that the Bank of Italy will not authorize UniCredito's offer, the largest bank takeover bid ever in Italy.
