Tech Bytes: Compass to Use Intelidata Payments Software

Compass Bank will use Interpose on-line banking and bill payment software from Intelidata Technologies Corp.

The software will allow customers of the Birmingham, Ala., bank to find updated account information and pay bills electronically using standard Web browsers, Microsoft Corp.'s Money, and Intuit Inc.'s Quicken.

The Interpose software will capture consumer bill payment information, letting Compass Bank process payments internally for those billers who are corporate customers of the bank. This feature will eliminate the cost of sending the job to an outside processor.

Previously, Compass had outsourced electronic banking and bill payment to Checkfree Holdings Corp. The bank will continue to rely on Checkfree for electronic payments to recipients who are not bank customers.
